The journey for Silver Mist Morgans began not with the dream of breeding Morgans.I was just looking for a partner, my dream horse.
When I began my search.I thought long and hard about the qualities I was looking for
and realized I wanted it all. After much research into different breeds I decided that the Morgan was exactly what I was looking for.
So I began to look at different breeders and after nearly a year found a young stallion that caught my eye and my heart . I saw him for sale on several sites and could not stop looking at him but though I was drawn to him I resisted at first because he was a stallion and I was not in the Market for one.He was also bred so well I did not want to geld him so I kept looking.thinking it best to leave him for someone else.As luck would have it that same farm had another nice young colt for sale.I decided that I would go have a look. He was very nice but the breeder also brought out the buckskin Stallion I had been Admiring for so long. After seeing him in person I couldn't resist he was THE one.
So with the purchase of Marana Artistry on July 9 2009 Silver Mist Morgans was born.
Artistry was my first breeding stallion. What started out as a learning curve has grown into a passion that continues to evolve daily.Although Artistry has now passed away he has left a powerful impression on me that will last a lifetime and I am grateful to have shared his short life with him.
Over the last couple of years I have been fortunate enough to purchase even more Morgans all with good breeding, disposition.I am choosing to keep the breeding going on a small scale.
My main focus is breed promotion and preservation but our Morgans are first and for most riding horses.
Good horsemanship is important to me and I feel it is my responsibility to set my horses up for success. Horsemanship to me is an on going and evolving art.I believe strongly in developing a good relationship with all my horses.I prefer to ride barefoot and bit-less and train, ride and interact with the well being of the horses in mind in all I do.
I am also training to build in the versatility that these horses are bred for as best I can.
Although no one person can learn all there is to know about horses in one life time.I strive to always improve my skills and knowledge to build the best most versatile horses possible.
These beautiful animals bring so much enjoyment and love to my life. They are my greatest teachers and dearest friends. I can't imagine life without them.
We also run a private therapeutic riding program as of 2018 it is now Known as
Riding The Spiral path
In these sessions there is a combination of Equine facilitated healing and learning. Through one on one riding sessions or by sharing space with the herd.I also have other pieces I will be bringing in which will be new to what I have previously offered.
I am currently developing new programs for the future of this endeavor and sessions/workshops and programs will be announced as they are developed.Website link is on the links page for those interested.
It is from these humble beginnings that the dream will be born and I am grateful everyday for the Morgan horse and what it brings into my life.
I hope you enjoy the web site and the horses that have made this possible.
